- Accelerating the Establishment of a Global Education and Research System Based on INU Vision 2030 Through Integrated Education and Research Programs at INU's College of Engineering
The College of Engineering at Incheon National University (INU), led by President Injae Lee, recently held its “INU Engineering Festival Week,” marking a new step toward becoming a globally leading university through research programs integrated with engineering education.
Celebrating its 12th anniversary this year, the INU Engineering Festival brought together the College of Engineering, the Engineering Education Innovation Center, the Career Development Center, the Startup Support Foundation, the Future Automotive Convergence Innovation Center, and the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon. Alumni currently working at major companies, including Hyundai Motor Company, Samsung Electronics, and POSCO, also participated, making the festival a major platform for education, research, culture, and career development.
Approximately 100 undergraduate research teams from the College of Engineering, 30 competition teams from the Engineering Education Innovation Center, and 30 research laboratories participating in the Open Lab program took part in academic presentations and competitions. The festival also featured career lectures by industry professionals and citizen participation programs organized by the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon. With approximately 2,000 participants attending across the various events, the festival continues to grow into one of the region's leading large-scale science and engineering celebrations.
All departments within the College of Engineering—Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial and Management Engineering, Safety Engineering, Energy and Chemical Engineering, and Bio-Robotics Systems Engineering—participated in showcasing their educational strengths and research and development activities. These exhibitions attracted considerable interest and enthusiastic responses from both current INU students and prospective students.
In addition, the College of Engineering selected several collaborative research initiatives as associated programs, including the “Cheonha Exchange Research Program,” a joint research initiative between INU and Inha University involving five teams, and an undergraduate–graduate student innovation research program involving 15 teams. These initiatives are helping establish a foundation for university innovation and the development of a regional research community.
Professor Kim Joon-dong, Dean of the College of Engineering at INU, stated, “We are expanding beyond regional innovation by connecting our activities with global cooperation projects and simultaneously operating exchange programs with distinguished scholars from around the world.” He added, “Through these efforts, we will identify and develop a wide range of international collaborative initiatives, including academic and personnel exchanges.”
Since its establishment in 1979 as Incheon Technical College, the predecessor of Incheon National University, INU has contributed to regional growth by cultivating highly skilled engineering professionals and supporting the development of national industries. Today, guided by its mid- to long-term development plan, “INU Vision 2030,” the University is accelerating its transformation into a sustainable, globally competitive institution for education and research.
